Evaluation of Thermal Comfort Performance of a Vertical Garden on a Glazed Façade and Its Effect on Building and Urban Scale, Case Study: An Office Building in Barcelona

The aim of this paper is to investigate the thermal performance vertical gardens by comparing comfort bare (glazed) and green façades in Mediterranean climate. proposal consists applying a vegetation layer on glazed façade that could control solar radiation reduce indoor air temperatures. This study investigates an office building For purpose, Gas Natural Fenosa Office Building as case was simulated, located site next coastline Barcelona. Dynamic energy simulation used determine assess conditions and, for reason, IES VE tool has been utilized. Thermal assessed through adaptive approach results were analyzed presented terms during occupied hours. As result, article shows caused reduction internal external surface temperatures, well temperature workplace. Additionally, enhancing summer closely associated with reducing temperature.
